Justin Bieber Back To Performing After Illness

Justin Bieber may have canceled his show Sunday night after being struck down by an illness, but he's bounced back and is ready to headline a show in New York. The VMA-nominated teen star tweeted that he has been cleared by his doctors to perform on Tuesday night (August 31) at Madison Square Garden, where he will film part of his upcoming 3-D movie.

"Ok the doctor said we aren't 100 percent but we are ready to ROcK!! Been cleared. MSG let's do this!!!" he tweeted on Monday. "Let's fill the streets of NYC! Rehearsals tonight were incredible...got off to a rocky start because wasnt feeling right but then after lunch kicked in. 2morrow at MSG!! Thanks to everyone who came to help today...this movie is coming together."

Fans in attendance on Tuesday will get the chance to be a part of his 3-D movie, which made Bieber seem genuinely excited. "2morrow let's fill the streets of NYC with Purple and even if you dont have tix we will b celebratin n maybe u might just find ur way inside," he wrote. "Tomorrow is a celebration....we are living a dream and playing MADISON SQUARE GARDEN in NYC!! WHO IS COMING!!?!?!? SEE U THERE!!!!!"

Rumors have been circulating for weeks that other celebrities will make cameos at the show, and among the big names in the rumor mill is "Never Say Never" guest Jaden Smith. "Special security arrangements are being made for Jaden, who will appear onstage, and his family, including [his father] Will, to be in the audience for the concert," a source told the New York Post.

Earlier this month, the film's director, Jon Chu, spoke to MTV News about the flick. "[It's] a movie for his fans, a movie for people who don't know him, and we're gonna tell the underdog story of where he came from," he explained.

"Because it's a really fascinating story and it has a lot to do with our sort of digital lifestyle now. He was able to do what corporations try to do now when they use YouTube and they don't even know what to do with it yet. It's a pretty cool story for our time."

Sick Justin Bieber Defies Doctor to Perform in NYC

Good news for Justin Bieber fans: Despite being very ill, the tiny teen idol has decided to push on and perform at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Tuesday night.

The 16-year-old pop sensation was forced to cancel a show on Sunday night in Syracuse, NY after he became sick with an unspecified illness. Justin tweeted that night to fans:

really dont know what to twitter...im getting rest right now and trying to recover from the not so good news from the doctor...im gonna be ok just need 2 rest but i wanted all of u 2 know i never want to let any of u down. ever. i really appreciate all the kind words. this really sucks.

Kanye West, Justin Bieber Fans Split On 'Runaway Love' Remix

Kanye West forced fanbases to collide on Monday, when he released his Justin Bieber "Runaway Love" remix, which also features Raekwon.

What began as a mere social-networking brainstorm both utilizes the contemporary pop-chart topping talents of both West and the Biebs and incorporates some of Raekwon's vintage verses from "Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nuthing Ta F--- Wit." So how do loyal fans react when a teen pop sensation, a master producer-turned-rapper and a hip-hop legend combine forces?

For the answers, we've looked across different blogs and MTVNews.com to see fan comments and reactions to the new record. While the remix seemed acceptable to most listeners, others thought the blend of Bieber with the two MCs went together like oil and water.

McShanful wrote on the hip-hop blog 2dopeboyz.com: "I thought this turned out pretty dope. But judging by the comments, this remix is a fail because Wu-Tang fans don't want to hear JB on a classic beat. And JB fans don't know or even care who Raekwon is, nor do they appreciate this classic beat. Nice try, 'Ye."

Readers on both pop and hip-hop websites couldn't see the benefit of including Bieber's song in the collaboration, stating that the current prince of bubblegum pop discredited the rappers' integrity.

"I'm a hard-core fan of Kanye's earlier music, but now I honestly think he will do anything if it gives him some fraction of publicity or money," Leni wrote on JustJared.com. "Justin Bieber? I mean really?"

Legacye wrote on on PerezHilton.com: "Oh ... dear ... lord. That was awful. Kanye's part of the track sounded fine, but Justin's music is just TOO tweeny-pop to fit in well with adult R and B. 1/5 from me."

And though Bieber's collaboration with Ludacris on "Baby" has been a huge hit with his followers, some were less than pleased by this much this harder-edged track.

"OMG !! That is just horrible," KT wrote on on Popeater.com. "Justin is the only good thing on the song, but you have to sit thru that no talent thug mumbling and talking his way thru the verses before Justin sprinkles his magic on the song. PLEASE Justin don't team up with these no talent thug rappers because your management says so. All it shows is how much talent you have and how little talent the rappers have. No wonder they all want a piece of Justin's genius. YAYYY JUSTIN!!"

But other fans were supportive of the boundary-breaking trio.

"The song actually wasn't that bad, and as much as I hate to say it, Bieber sounded a little like Michael Jackson," Ericarbo436 wrote on MTVNews.com.

"A young youth, rockin' the gold tooth!" Börte Petrarchia wrote on PerezHilton.com. "What a great collaboration that was. I think some were uneasy about it when they first heard, but I wasn't. F--- this elitist bullsh-- about who should work with who in music. It's all about creating wonderful tracks, and this is fantastic. Kanye's back, better than ever, so I'm happy."

Rwar wrote on 2dopeboyz.com: "So good I had to post twice. Can we collectively acknowledge how important Kanye West is to music? Who else could make this happen?"

Leeds Festival

Shaking overly-long hair to James Murphy et al.

Oh, the aftermath. It is nearly over, but it has been painful. I would like back all the sleep that I was deprived of. I slept even less than I anticipated I would. 2 hours on the first night. Excellent.

That said, it was, overall, definitely worth it. I have my gripes about the organisation, and there were a few things that are pretty shameful for such a long-running, established and seasoned festival. But when you get to see performances like that of Everything Everything, Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem and Funeral Party it is made all the better!

Obviously camping was awful. It had a few amusing moments. Some boys nearby quoting Toy Story. Another boy shouting 'Ben' in a strange voice for nearly an hour. On one day someone shouting "FUCK OFF!" then a pause "I FUCKING HATE CAMPING!".. I feel your pain. Waves of cheers were an auditory delight. The bass from Picadilly Party until nearly 5am shredded my famously fragile nerves.

There were moments of sheer joy. Tears at the wonder of Arcade Fire. Elation on seeing Kieran Hebden (Four Tet) in the flesh. Literal slack-jaw gawping at the energy of Funeral Party.

I'm probably going to pick out stand out performances and blog separately about those bands. But needless to say I was very lucky and fortunate and saw some fantastic acts.

But the organisers of Leeds Festival have left a sour taste in my mouth. Over the years they has put on this event they must have learnt an awful lot of lessons. Many things were vastly improved. But in my opinion they sold the soul of the festival to reignite some lack-lustre, nostalgia-provokers. There was little effort elsewhere on the bill. They should not have named the Dance Stage as such. The sound quality on the main stage was disastrous for many of the acts. Don't even get me started on the shambles that left my best friend devastated that was the performance by Mumford and Sons. Horrible advert folk. But nevertheless, if people next to you spoke you couldn't hear the band. WTF Leeds?! £180! I fucking brought my own accommodation, you twats!

The Next Big Hip-Hop Artist? Industry Experts Weigh In!

Now that JB is collaborating with Kanye West and Raekwon, does he have a future in the hip-hop community, or should he stick to pop/R&B hybrid he’s made his own? A magazine editor, record label exec and a musician weigh in!

Little Justin Bieber is about to play with the big boys! Now that the teen singing sensation is collaborating with hip-hop heavyweights Kanye West and the Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon, we had to ask the question: does the Biebster have a future in the HH industry, or should he stick to the genre he knows best?

“He can’t really become the next big hip-hop artist, but as he does more stuff with Kanye and Raekwon there could be a chance that hip-hop can front him even more. It won’t come off as posture,” Jermaine Hall, the editor-in-chief of Vibe magazine, tells HollywoodLife.com. “You can tell he grew up listening to the genre, so it doesn’t come off as false. But will he be as big as Kanye or Jay-Z in this game? Probably not.”

If Justin, 16, DOES want to become a big star in the hip-hop community, Hall does think he’s surrounding himself with the perfect people. “He’s definitely picking the right people! Raekwon is a great pick as is Kanye. If he’s able to ever get Jay-Z to co-sign, I think that would be the ultimate get for him. So far the people he’s hand-picking to collaborate with are on point.” He adds, “As Justin gets older he should graduate to a more Justin Timberlake kind of lane – he should strive to be the next JT, not the next Jay-Z.”

Agrees Jeff Sledge, the VP of A&R for Battery/Jive Records, “I don’t think I’d ever call him a hip-hop artist, but he IS a young kid that’s grown up in a hip-hop world. Will he ever be a hip-hop artist in a convential way? No. He’s a white kid from Canada, but he does [have credibility in that world because] he hangs out with Diddy, Jay-Z and Beyonce….he’s even been on BET.”

Sledge says that Justin definitely shouldn’t try to deviate from the musical path he’s on – he’s good at what he does, he’s found his niche and should stick with it! “He shouldn’t be striving to make himself the next JT or Usher. His path is different. The world is different now than when those guys came up. Hip-hop is part of his life.”

Even Raekwon himself has said that instead of going more hip-hop, he and Kanye are going to move towards JB’s brand of pop. “Yeezy called me and we gon’ make it pop,” he said. “At the end of the day we’re all doing our thing in the game and for them to even just have a conversation and just put my name in it, it feels good. It feels good to respect what I do and I respect what they do. And we gon’ make a hit. Justin got his own fanbase and me and Yeezy got our own fanbase and we gon’ make it happen. We gon’ make a good record.”

Staying true to himself is a good thing, according to rocker Tara Ellis, who tells us, “I don’t think Justin could fit that mold but at the same time, Kanye has blurred the lines on what an artist can be and do, so Justin is certainly in good company if he happens to take on that challenge. But let’s be honest – Justin Bieber should remain in the spotlight of what comes naturally to him.”

Justin Bieber Cancelled his show!! :O

The seemingly indestructible Bieber canceled a show scheduled for tonight at the New York State Fair in glorious Syracuse, NY. He will instead perform Wednesday night.

A statement of the Fair's website reads, "Due to an illness and under doctor's orders, Justin Bieber has been forced to re-schedule his Sunday, Aug. 29 concert at the New York State Fair to Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 7 pm."

Bieber alluded to the illness on his Twitter page yesterday, writing, "Been super sick lately but u guys are carrying me. thank u for the love."

JB Sings "Baby" at Nickelodeon Mega Music Fest

Oh, "Baby"! Justin Bieber will be performing at the first ever Nickelodeon Mega Music Fest!

Justin will sing "Baby" along with the Fresh Beat Band during the hour-long prime-time concert special. Other performances include Colbie Caillat with Kai-lan, The Roots with Yo Gabba Gabba!, and Wyclef Jean with Dora the Explorer.

The Nickelodeon Mega Music Fest will premiere on Labor Day, Monday, September 6, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Nickelodeon.

British radio DJ Scott Mills has offered his apology regarding his "brat" comment about pop sensation Justin Bieber. The 36-year-old has made use of his Twitter account to say, "I may have called Justin bieber a brat in today's metro! Just my experience of him,sorry.." On what prompted him to do so, he pointed out in the tweet, "Getting few angry messages!"

Scott has called Justin "a precocious little brat" when asked by Metro who is the rudest celebrity he has met. After branding Pamela Anderson as "a whirlwind of nonsense" for not answering any questions and throwing a piece of paper at him, he added in his response to the question, "Justin Bieber isn't the friendliest either. Seriously, someone needs to have a word with him."

This isn't the first time Justin has been accused of being rude. Back in May, Sunrise co-host David Koch said that the "Baby" hitmaker needed "a slap" after throwing tantrum at production staff. "Our floor manager was directing him to where he was about to perform and he turned around to [the floor manager] Nick and said: 'Don't ever f****** touch me again'," he recalled the incident.

Justin Bieber Invites Fans to Join His 3-D Movie

Justin Bieber has made another sensation again. The young singer, who is planning a biopic, has invited fans to join him in the movie. Making the announcement are Jon Chu, who has been tapped to serve as director, and the Canadian boy himself.

Those who want to be a part of the untitled Justin Bieber biopic are asked to submit a home video of themselves singing along to Bieber's "That Should Be Me" or they should "Show us how 'U Smile' " by sending in a photo or video. The video or photo should be submitted to bieberfever.com/movie.

Bieber's fans have apparently shown great enthusiasm as few hours after the announcement was made the movie's site was overloaded. "sorry u guys crashed the server!! haha. It's back up now!! Get in MY MOVIE!!! U got less than 24 hours!!" the "Baby" hitmaker later updated his Twitter account.

Recently, Jon Chu who also directed "Step Up 3-D", has described how the upcoming Justin Bieber movie will be. "[It's] a movie for his fans, a movie for people who don't know him, and we're gonna tell the underdog story of where he came from. There's not going to be acted-out scenes and I can't talk about the rest. It's not your typical concert film and it's not going to be a biopic ... but it is about his life. I think it's more of a documentary. We're going to figure it out as we go," he explained.

The film will be presented in 3-D and is slated to come out in the U.S. on Valentine's Day weekend, February 11, 2011 to be exact.

Appearing on Lopez Tonight Tuesday, Kim Kardashian dished about her photo shoot co-star Justin Bieber and the Bill O’Reilly criticism it drew.

That history is contentious, however, and the meaning of a man's upper register changes drastically by genre. Safely bolstered by guitars, for instance, a falsetto-singing rock frontman can come off as coolly secure in his masculinity. In already feminized, dubiously "authentic" genres like dance pop, however, singing "like a girl" in a style that signifies "false" requires some legitimizing legwork. Artists like Justin Timberlake and Usher compensate by closely aligning themselves with hip-hop producers and constructing self-images as ladies' men. But while he's dropped a few hormonal hints, balls-to-the-wall booty jams don't exactly gel with Bieber's boy-next-door image. Physically, nothing about a falsetto is "false": It's simply a register any man could develop if it were given as much attention as the lower timbres we associate with "adult male." Socially speaking, however, vocal timbres are one of the means by which we attempt to neatly divvy up the world into two sexes. The falsetto singer's (feminine) voice seems to belie his (male) body, so his masculinity must be re-established. JB can't accomplish that stylistically: He is not a rock star, and he can't pull off legit soul-singer status, despite the BET Awards nod. But due to both his actual youth and his incredibly childlike appearance, he can't do it sexually either.

In other words, the go-to response to a white boy's dance-pop falsetto is eroticization, but it's just . . . creepy to think dirty thoughts about someone who looks like he's seven. We don't know what to make of the body that goes with the girlish voice, the ambiguous face, and the incredibly youthful boyishness of someone who is almost, but not quite, a man. Do those cooing, cherubic vocals belong to an overgrown boy soprano? A young man singing falsetto? A girl in teen-boy drag? A modern-day castrato?

The flurry of interest in Bieber's vocal puberty, then, is not just about watching a child star try to roll with the big boys, but also about possibly alleviating the aural anxiety over his gender and sexuality. Maybe JB will grow up to be JT, who we are (mostly) comfortable with these days. Far less comfortably, maybe he'll be MJ, his man-child voice frozen in time. Hell, maybe he'll grow up to sound like Barry White. Wouldn't it be interesting, though, if he remained somewhat ambiguous, a compellingly complicated figure, at once alien and appealing? At the very least, Biebs, keep the hair.

Headline music acts Sola Rosa and pop darling Ruby Frost will ramp up the entertainment at New Zealand Fashion WEEKEND, adding to a schedule that will include more live music, art, DJ’s and food than ever, as well as a selection of New Zealand’s finest fashion.

After four full days of Fashion Week shows, New Zealand Fashion WEEKEND opens up to the public on Friday afternoon and evening, then again for a full day on Saturday.

“There’s a huge amount of action at Fashion WEEKEND. Stop for a bite at Fashion Plate, catch Sera Lilly’s show, see Sola Rosa play and get some beauty advice,” says NZFW Brand Director Myken Stewart.

Adding to the confirmed headline acts, Sydney DJ MOONCHILD will be spinning his famous blend of nu-disco and club favorites to get the party started in the Cutting Room, joining a fantastic local DJ line up entertaining guests right through the week at the Cutting Room Bar.

The most fashionable restaurant in town Fashion Plate will be open all weekend serving up delicious tapas and conveniently fast meals making Fashion Plate the perfect place to grab a bite between shows.

Fashion lovers can get the low down on hair and beauty with informative and entertaining seminars from Dr. Catherine Stone from the Face Place, Pheonix Cosmetics, Jackie O’Fee (Signature Style), Magic Tan, Inika and The Skin Institute. Paul Serville and the Servilles Creative Team will be on hand to share their salon secrets and the latest cuts and styles for summer with the eager audience.

Christina Hendricks: The New Face of London Fog

Iconix Brand Group announced that Emmy Award-nominated actress Christina Hendricks will appear in its London Fog brand's fall marketing campaign.

Hendricks stars in AMC's award winning series, Mad Men, and was recently named "Best-Looking Woman In America" by Esquire magazine. The multi-media marketing campaign will debut in October issues of fashion and lifestyle magazines such as Elle, Cosmopolitan and InStyle, outdoor and online.

Christina Hendricks stated, "London Fog is a classic brand, which I love. It also ties in to Mad Men, we used London Fog in the show and this was a nice way to tie everything together. The trench is such an iconic shape for men and women. It works for anyone - it worked in the 1960s and it works now."

Hendricks was chosen for the London Fog campaign for her glamorous and sophisticated persona. The alluring black and white campaign features Hendricks posing seductively in London Fog outerwear and accessories. The campaign was created by the Iconix in-house marketing team and shot by photographer Nino Munoz in Los Angeles.
