Selena Gomez Thinks Justin Bieber “Deserves” To Win Best New Artist VMA

Just because singer/actress Selena Gomez isn’t nominated for the Best New Artist moonman at this weekend’s MTV Video Music Awardsdoesn’t mean she doesn’t have her eyes locked on the category. That’s because she’s rooting for a pal.
The Round and Round singer tells MTV that she wants her good friend, Justin Bieber, to walk away with the award. But she isn’t putting her support behind JB because of their friendship, she’s casting her vote based on the 16-year-old phenom’s talent and hard work over the past year.
“I think he deserves it,” Selena told MTV News in an interview. “I think he’s worked really hard. He works harder than a lot of people I know so I think he deserves it.”
If Selena gets her wish, Justin would have defeated the likes of Nicki Minaj. Ke$ha, Broken Bells and Jason Derulo.
The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards takes place on September 12th in Los Angeles.
