In June, Sydney Dalton posted a YouTube video of herself and her friends declaring they were "over" Justin Bieber. Recently, fans of the 16-year-old singer have snapped back at the New Jersey teen, tweeting their disapproval and even threatening to cause her physical harm.
In the video, Sydney and her pals are shown tearing down posters of Justin while 'Baby' is playing in the background. "As you probably know, I went through this little phase where I was like obsessed with Justin Bieber, but now we're getting over it and we're moving on," Sydney says. "The next step is ripping down all of [our] posters off the wall."
The video was soon deleted from the teen's channel, but it had already spread around the Internet. Although Sydney says she was only over the pop star for a little while, angry Bieber fans unleashed their wrath over Twitter and made counter YouTube videos voicing violent threats and mocking the original clip.
Since the backlash, Sydney has gained 7,000 additional followers and become a trending topic on Twitter. She maintains she never asked for the attention and responded to her haters saying: "You don't have to like me. you can hate me (idk why you would, since justin doesn't) but there is no need to send me death threats. My friends and i screen capped some of the bad ones and i am still debating if i should bring it to the police. I don't care if that's immature, i want you guys to learn a lesson. You can't cyber bully people. Honestly it's not right."
Justin has yet to make a statement about the situation, but we think he should. We watched Sydney's video, and while fans may be bummed about about her tearing up Justin's posters, the threats she's received are completely out of line. What are your thoughts? Are Beliebers taking things too far?
