Gold's Gym...free pass scam! Consumer alert...

Local gyms are hip to the fact that during the Yuletide season, folks are going to be partying-hearty, and sampling the finer treats that life has to offer around this time each year.

And, that means, stuffing their mouths with all manner of delectable calorie-laden goodies laced with wicked trans fats.

Needless to say, by the end of December - as the New Year is about to be rung in - a few body-conscious dudes & dudettes are going to be thumbing through the yellow pages in search of a gym to join (with the ultimate aim of shedding the extra deadweight come-hell or high-water).

Personally, I don't like to be embarrassed when I take off my clothes, so that is a good enough incentive for me to hit the treadmill, pronto!

Unfortunately, disreputable gyms - keen on fleecing your wallet - will be flogging a handful of clever promotions on the premise that they are offering up discounted membership  deals that will meet your slimming & trimming needs.

Wrong!

For instance, Gold's Gym - once renowed for being a work-out palace that catered exclusively to body-builders - has entered the mainstream with all-manner of scams that are appealing on the surface.

However, the dishonest club owners have simply manipulated the specifics to deceitfully get unsuspecting "suckers" in the door - at which point - the free week or two offered up initially magically vanishes into thin air.

"Victims" of high-pressure sales tactics will find themselves signing on the dotted line for monthly fees - that are not only through the roof, but also, a good deal pricier than that of the competition.

I say, avoid Gold's scam artists, ike the plague.

24 Hour Fitness and Crunch - and a handful of other full-service gyms in the neighborhood - are better bets and run by honest management who won't try to rip 'ya off.

Cheers!
