Barry Manilow...in concert @ Royce Hall! UCLA March 22nd!

Barry is a dog lover!

Barry Manilow - ever-popular lounge lizard pop and prolific songwriter - trots onto the Royce Hall stage to perform live! (UCLA campus) on March 22nd.

No doubt, the youthful pop crooner - who penned such memorable tunes as "Copacabana", "Mandy", and "Looks like We Made it" - will pack the house with a cross-section of fans (young & old alike) that he has scooped up over the past few decades.

Deservedly, so!

One of his biggest chart-toppers - "I Write the Songs" - was actually not composed by Barry (which may come as a surprise to die-hard music-lovers) but by Bruce Johnston of The Beach Boys.

A bit of trivia you can trick you friends with at future pot-lucks!

But, from what I understand from inside sources - the "do" (every luscious strand) - is all Manilow's (no rug for this pop survivor, eh?).

Tickets are going fast, just betcha, so you better get-on-the-ball pronto.

See 'ya there!

Britney Spears...Castro District street gig revs up! Local fans ecstatic!

This gay old town is all-a-buzz over the sizzling news that still-sexy chanteuse - Britney Spears - will be hauling her pretty a** into the Bay area at the end of the month to entertain live! in front of the historic Art-Deco Castro Theatre.

Britney music enthusiasts are ecstatic!

In the wake of the initial scuttlebutt that floated around the blogosphere and in the mainstream media last week, all the juicy details of the Pop Star's itinerary have managed to leak out, fortunately for us nose-bodies in the biz anxious to be on top of things.

Tongues have been wagging that Brit is anxious to woo back LGBT fans who may have drifted from the fold in recent years to follow wildly popular Lady Gaga during her fall from Grace.

"Good Morning America" will play host to the concert which will be staged smack-dab in the middle of the bustling city.

Of course, Castro Street will be blocked-off, so die-hard commuters are forewarned to take heed to avoid getting caught up in a snarl of traffic on March 27th when the gig will be taped.

Britney's performance is expected to be broadcast a couple of days later on March 29th.

At press time, no estimates of the costs were forthcoming, but - just betcha - they'll be staggering!

But, generous ABC is footing the bill, so who cares?

Obviously, the suits at the Network have their eye on the ratings bonanza that lurks in the wings (and weeks) ahead.

I expect that advertisers are snapping up commercial spots right now - as I spout off at-the-mouth - to be sure they snatch up a piece of the hot-and-heavy action.
Ms. Spears will fly in to San Francisco a few days early, so she can meet-and-greet meet with a handful of local organizations - such as the "Lavender Youth Recreation and Information Center" and the ever-popular "Larkin Street Youth Services" - for starters.

That's the giving spirit, Brit!

According to organizers, a lucky few will land free tickets to the event.

I expect local Radio Stations will be involved in contest give-a-ways 'til curtain call.

See 'ya there!

Justin Bieber...Most Valuable Player in NBA Celebrity Basketball match!

Justin Bieber dazzled fans - and athletes alike - with his performance on the court over the weekend in an NBA celebrity basketball match.

The kid - hot-to-trot - turned out to be an exemplary team-player to the surprise of a handful of sports enthusiasts gushing on the sidelines.

Bieber scored eight points, landed four assists and scooped two rebounds - for the West team - which ended up losing 54 - 49 to the East.

In spite of the fact the "Bieb's" team lost, the young pop star was named MVP (Most Valuable Player).

Go figure!

Just betcha, critics of the flavor of the month thought he was just a cream puff - and a flash in the pan, to boot - eh?

Bieber's got all the right stuff!

But, that new "do" - gracing the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine - was something else altogether, wasn't it?

Uh-huh!

Justin Bieber...touts Canada's Health Care system! Greatest country in world!

When folks hear that I am from Canada, they shake their heads in disbelief.

"You have free Health care in your country. Why are you residing in the United States?"

True, the benefits in my native land are enviable, without doubt.

Even the "Bieb" - Pop Star Justin Bieber - brags about the country's medical system.

For example, in a recent Rolling Stone interview, Bieber was inclined to plug the Great White North.

"Here (in the U.S.) your whole life you're broke because of medical bills," he uttered up with a tinge of noticeable frustration.

Then, in the blink of a pretty eye, he touted his homeland.

"Canada is the best country in the world."

A naive perspective - but one which rings true - for the most part.

Until you make it in America - you'll remain a nobody essentially - unable to savor the spoils of International success.

Just remind Bieber, so he knows how fortunate he is - and, where his bread is buttered - eh?

Later!

Justin Bieber...cyber attacks on Pop Star! Fan fanatics!

Justin has his own little Monsters!

Cyber attack on the competition!

Josh Groban has a posse of 'em.

And, now - it appears from a flurry of cyber attacks last night on the Internet - that the "Bieb" has a gang of those die-hards, too!

Uh-huh!

On the heels of a loss to rising young Pop Star (Esperanza Spalding) in a much-coveted Grammy Award category broadcast live last eve - wacko dedicated Bieber "fans" swarmed the pervasive World-Wide-Web - and took matters into their own dainty highly-polished hands!

Within minutes of scooping up the prize, authorities - and webmasters, too - reported that a glut of irate "Bieber" babes launched a nasty assault on Esperanza's Official web site to utter up their disdain.

There outta be a law, right?

Needless to say - the "Bieb" was most apologetic - in the aftermath!

In fact, in the glitzy environs back-stage a few moments earlier, Justin was inclined to be a good sport about it all.

Golly!

The polite Pop Icon (from Stratford-on-Avon) even gushed congratulations to the talented young musical beauty who scooped up the Golden Trophy many thought was the "Bieb's" by birthright!

Hell hath no fury like a Bieber fan scorned, eh?

Justin Bieber...a quick wit! Feature Flick "Never say Never" to debut!

Turns out that Justin Bieber is not only a cutie oozing with good looks and talent, but a quick wit, too!

Who knew?

When asked by a gushing Entertainment Tonight reporter if he would ever shave his head for a part in a flick he could sink his teeth into, he was pretty fast on the uptake.

"Sure.  Hair will grow back," he grinned.

No doubt, like Elvis before him, the locks would sell for a pretty song.

Gold-digging gals (and guys) may be unhappy to hear - though - that striking up a hot-and-heavy affair with the young Pop Star may be a daunting task to wangle.

Why, pray tell?

The "Bieb" confessed that his handlers (and family and friends) are keen on protecting the talented heartthrob from unwanted advances and potentially negative influences that may prove to be disruptive as the young musician continues his rise into the pop stratosphere.

Undoubtedly, his stock will soar higher next week, once his much-anticipated film - Never Say Never - premieres on February 11th (2011).

Though Bieber swears up-and-down that there is no one special in his love life just now, he intends to saunter out on Valentine's Day, nonetheless.

In search of true love?

"I may surprise fans by showing up at a movie theatre," he chuckled, with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

Just betcha, the kid is hot-to-trot.

Raging hormones - and all that - uh-huh!

Thank God for yummy distractions as ominous clouds hang over the horizon on distant foreign shores - which remain troubling to Americans - none-the-less.

By the way, Justin is featured on a Super Bowl commercial this Sunday.

It may be one of those rare occasions when folks around the Nation actually wait for the commercial breaks instead of running off to the bathroom to the water closet (English term, dudes!) to relieve themselves.

Catch it if you can!

Miley Cyrus...hot single with catchy beat! A tigress on fire!

Miley Cyrus's fans will be kicking up their heels to the catchy beat of the young music whiz's sizzlin' hot new single -"Who owns my Heart" - on the dance floor in coming weeks.

After all, the video is a jolt - an adrenalin rush - no matter how 'ya cut it!

But, as usual, sexy smiley Miley is anxious to get a message across.

In a couple of gushing interviews over the weekend, the pretty young star of the pop charts (and silver screen, too) was anxious to chat about the thrust of her latest creative endeavour to all within earshot.

"It's just about freeing yourself from anything you think is holding you back, And, I think that's really important, especially for girls, because so many people are told - 'No, you can't do something' - or 'You need to be this because Mom and Dad say that, teachers say this'."

Holding 'ya back from what?

Catching fire?

Miley, you've caught the tail end of a comet, and you're hot!

You go, girl!
