Scribe’s
third record opens with a magnificent moment – the burning sound of a synth
chord that fades into silence before a slow intake of breath ... and then
suddenly Akshayraj’s and Prashant’s guitars and a high bass pattern jump into
life. If you wanted to bottle the best of what the fathers of Indian Hardcore
do, it's there in those 50 seconds. After the moderate success of their 2008
release ‘Confect’, the Mumbaikaars are releasing (having also produced) ‘Mark
Of Teja’ in alliance with biggies G&S. And there's plenty here to be
hopeful about – the first three tracks (R.S.V.P, I Love you Pav Bhaji and
Street Archana Vs. Vice Varsha) are equals of their scrumptious hit ‘One wing
Pencil’, and the 45 minutes of broody Nu-Metallish hardcore contained herein is
never unlikable. Not to forget, this time around the madness and the comedy has
intensified- the very eerie song-titles, the crazy vocal fill ins and the very
tongue-in-cheek song themes served hot with super-fantastic mastering and
production quality( Shabaash Anupam!!!).This one’s a revelation- an
experimental, sinister, adult metal album one that’s bound to set the cats
among the pigeons!
